Project Objectives/Components | ILS is a member of the Chemonics consortium that was awarded a USAID IQC to provide services in improving agricultural productivity and natural resource management in the developing world. PLACE will serve as USAID’s primary mechanism for the promotion of transformational development and integrated landscape management through sustained, increased biodiversity conservation and natural resource management. This important and strategic contract will allow ILS and its consortium members to provide targeted support to USAID/Missions, Offices, and partners in five primary natural resource management categories including biodiversity conservation (terrestrial, freshwater, and marine), sustainable forestry, sustainable tourism, ecologically sustainable agriculture, and the provision of ecosystem services. Interwoven in the five primary categories are seven cross-cutting natural resources management and biodiversity conservation approaches: (1) natural resource governance and policy reform (2) resource and property rights (3) capacity-building and institutional strengthening, (4) enterprise development (5) sustainable finance (6) conflict mitigation and management, (6) gender and strengthening disadvantaged groups. The consortium will also provide specialized services in ten key additional service areas including information management and geospatial information technologies; assessment, analysis, and knowledge management; cross-sectoral and strategic planning; program development and implementation; performance monitoring and evaluation; communication, outreach and behavior change; environmental monitoring and compliance; alliances, partnerships, and volunteer programs; small grants managements; and commodity procurement. ILS will provide technical advisory services under PLACE activities in areas related to land administration, property rights and land tenure reform, and land market development. |
